A York-based dessert restaurant has been recognized as North Yorkshire’s Best Dessert Shop at this year’s England Business Awards, highlighting both its culinary excellence and community involvement.
Heavenly Desserts York received the prestigious accolade following a comprehensive evaluation process that included an unannounced mystery shopper assessment. Judges evaluated the restaurant on multiple criteria including staff friendliness, cleanliness standards, food quality and presentation, and overall dining atmosphere. The assessment also considered the establishment’s community engagement efforts and contribution to York’s local food scene.

The four-year-old restaurant has built a strong reputation among both residents and tourists for its specialty offerings, which include freshly prepared waffles, crepes, pancakes, and patisserie-style tarts. Popular menu items feature the pistachio white chocolate waffle, double milk chocolate cookie dough, and the restaurant’s signature Biscoff and white chocolate “croffle” – a creative combination of croissant and waffle.
The establishment also serves brunch until 4:00 PM daily, with dishes such as Keralan Spiced beans on sourdough, bacon and egg croffle, and signature chai and pecan granola.
This latest recognition adds to the restaurant’s growing collection of honors, including TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards in 2022 and 2024, and a MIDAS award for dessert innovation.
Beyond its culinary offerings, Heavenly Desserts York has maintained an active presence in the local community through participation in York’s Ice Trail, hosting live cooking demonstrations at York Festival, and organizing promotional giveaways.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be recognised as North Yorkshire’s Best Dessert Shop,” said Restaurant Manager Denisa Nika. “This award reflects the passion and dedication of our entire team, who go above and beyond every day to deliver unforgettable experiences for our guests.”
Scott Somerville from the England Business Awards praised the restaurant’s performance across all evaluation categories. “Our mystery guest praised the attentive and friendly service, the quality and presentation of the food, and the warm, luxurious atmosphere of the venue,” he said. “Beyond that, the team’s ongoing work in the local community really stood out.”
The award reinforces York’s emerging status as a destination for innovative dining experiences, with Heavenly Desserts contributing to the city’s appeal among dessert enthusiasts nationwide.
