The Women of the World (WOW) movement will mark its 15th anniversary with a groundbreaking event at the Royal Albert Hall on International Women’s Day, featuring an impressive lineup of activists, musicians, and cultural icons.
Headlined by legendary activist Angela Davis and iconic singer-songwriter Annie Lennox, the March 8th celebration promises to be a powerful exploration of feminist activism and hope. Lennox, founder of the global feminist organization The Circle, will engage in a conversation with WOW Founder Jude Kelly about her life’s work and vision for the future.
The event will showcase a diverse range of talent, including Grammy-nominated sitarist Anoushka Shankar, comedian Sandi Toksvig, actor Liz Carr, and musician Jordan Stephens. A unique panel will discuss the intersection of music and activism, highlighting the movement’s broad approach to social change.
A special musical highlight will be a world premiere choral commission by award-winning composer Errollyn Wallen. The piece will be performed by an intergenerational choir of 150 women, girls, and non-binary people aged between 8 and 80, symbolizing the movement’s inclusive spirit.
Over the past 15 years, WOW has made significant global impact, hosting festivals in 71 locations across six continents and attracting five million participants worldwide. The organization has supported thousands of activists and brought previously taboo subjects into mainstream dialogue.
“I’m passionately dedicated to amplifying the concept of ‘Global Feminism’,” Lennox stated, emphasizing the event’s commitment to empowering women and girls globally.
Tickets start at £20, with 200 £10 tickets allocated for community groups, ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences. The event is supported by the Richard Attenborough Charitable Trust, The Julia Rausing Trust, and Arts Council England.
This celebration marks the first of several events planned for WOW’s 15th anniversary, promising continued momentum in the fight for gender equity.
The event takes place at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, 8 March 2025, at 7 pm, offering a powerful testament to the ongoing global movement for women’s rights and social justice.
