Hotel Indigo Coventry marked its first successful year of operation with a star-studded celebration featuring local boxing sensation Bradley Goldsmith. The luxury boutique hotel, which opened its doors in January 2024 following a 19-month multi-million-pound development, has quickly established itself as a market leader in the city.

The anniversary celebration on February 6 saw the launch of a new menu at the hotel’s Cogs Bar & Kitchen, including a special “Knockout Burger” named after Goldsmith, who boasts an impressive 12-0 professional record with 8 knockouts. The menu also features a “Lady Godiva Burger” among its eight deluxe options, paying homage to the city’s famous historical figure.

Despite opening in challenging times, the hotel has exceeded expectations in both average daily rate and occupancy. Its success has been recognized with a nomination for the New Tourism Business Award at the upcoming West Midlands Tourism Awards 2025, with results to be announced in March.

“The week after we opened, the hotel was fully booked, which goes to show the need for luxury accommodation in the city,” says General Manager Michael Lyons. “Although a modern hotel, we are very much connected to the local community.” This connection is evident in the hotel’s decor, which includes a Penny Farthing on loan from Coventry Transport Museum and a Healey by Caton in the reception area.

The hotel has also launched several innovative initiatives, including a comprehensive dog-friendly package. For £25 per night, four-legged guests receive amenities including blankets, treats, and special door hangers.

Cogs Bar & Kitchen, open to both hotel guests and the public, has become a popular dining destination, serving breakfast through dinner seven days a week. The restaurant emphasizes locally sourced ingredients and hosts monthly steak nights with live music. A new Bottomless Brunch Menu is planned for launch in the coming weeks.

The hotel’s success is reflected in its guest satisfaction scores, achieving over 90 points and placing it in IHG’s elite banding for Guest Love scores. Located in Friargate, the hotel continues to blend contemporary luxury with local heritage, creating a unique hospitality experience in Coventry’s city center.
