British Airways has announced the addition of two new short-haul destinations to its network, with services to Tivat in Montenegro and Guernsey in the Channel Islands launching next summer.

The new routes bring the airline’s total number of short-haul destinations from London Heathrow to nearly 100, continuing the carrier’s network expansion following recent additions including St. Louis and Graz.

Seasonal flights to Tivat will commence on May 14, 2026, operating three times weekly during the summer season from Heathrow Terminal 3. The service will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with return fares starting from £172 per person including taxes and fees.

Year-round daily service to Guernsey will begin on April 19, 2026, operating from Terminal 5. British Airways will be the only carrier offering direct flights between Heathrow and Guernsey, with return tickets available from £101 per person.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, highlighted the strategic importance of the new routes: “Montenegro is an ideal choice for those seeking stunning coastlines and year-round sunshine, and the addition of Guernsey is something we know our customers have been eagerly awaiting.”

Montenegro’s Growing Tourism Market

Montenegro has seen significant tourism growth, with the Statistical Office of Montenegro reporting 2.6 million tourist arrivals in 2024 and nearly 15.6 million overnight stays. More than 96 percent of overnight guests were international visitors.

The Adriatic nation offers diverse attractions including the historic walled towns of Kotor and Budva, the dramatic landscapes of Durmitor National Park, and extensive coastline along the Adriatic Sea. Tivat, located on the Bay of Kotor, serves as a gateway to the region’s beaches and cultural sites.

Guernsey Connections

The Guernsey service addresses a gap in direct connectivity between the Channel Island and Britain’s busiest airport. The flight schedule has been designed to facilitate onward connections to more than 20 European destinations including Rome, Madrid, and Geneva, as well as transatlantic routes to North America.

Guernsey, located in the English Channel between England and France, attracts visitors with its 28 miles of coastal cliff paths, Castle Cornet which has guarded St Peter Port for over 800 years, and a blend of British and French cultural influences.

Both new routes will offer Club Europe service, British Airways’ short-haul business class product, which includes lounge access, additional legroom, full meal service, and increased baggage allowance.

The airline has also launched holiday packages through British Airways Holidays, with seven-night stays in Montenegro starting from £979 per person and two-night Guernsey breaks from £329 per person, both including flights and accommodation.

The new services are part of British Airways’ broader network expansion strategy, which has seen the airline add multiple destinations in recent months including the Austrian city of Graz, which began service today, and Rabat in Morocco introduced earlier this year.

Both routes are now available for booking through the British Airways website and travel agents, with the Montenegro service operating seasonally and Guernsey flights running year-round.
