Blenheim Palace is offering visitors a chance to win luxury prizes worth hundreds of pounds through an exciting golden egg treasure hunt this Easter, the latest addition to the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s seasonal attractions.
Running from 5th to 17th April 2025, the ‘Golden Giveaways’ experience adds a compelling reason for travellers to include the historic Oxfordshire estate in their Easter holiday itineraries.
Daily Prizes Worth Up to £209
Each weekday during the event, Palace staff will hide a golden egg somewhere on the extensive estate, with daily clues released across the attraction’s social media channels to help visitors track down the treasure.
Lucky finders can win prizes including tickets to the Palace’s premium seasonal events, dining experiences, and annual memberships:
- A family ticket to Christmas at Blenheim Palace worth £209
- Afternoon Tea in The Orangery valued at £106
- A Palace and Play Pass worth £165, providing unlimited visits for a year
- Lunch at the Walled Garden Pizzeria up to £74
- Tickets to the Halloween Light Trail worth £80
- A £40 voucher for the Palace shop
- A complete set of Cressida Cowell’s “How to Train Your Dragon” novels worth £95
The treasure hunt format encourages visitors to explore the full extent of the 2,000-acre ‘Capability’ Brown landscape, potentially discovering areas they might otherwise miss.
Strategic Timing for School Holiday Period
The Golden Giveaways event is strategically timed to coincide with the Easter school holidays, providing an additional draw for families looking for engaging outdoor activities.
Travel experts suggest the initiative represents a growing trend among heritage attractions to create interactive, gamified experiences that appeal to today’s digitally-native families.
“Historic properties are increasingly looking beyond traditional visitor experiences,” explains tourism consultant Emma Wilson. “This treasure hunt combines social media engagement with real-world exploration, creating a compelling blend that appeals particularly to families with older children who might otherwise be difficult to engage with heritage sites.”
Comprehensive Easter Offering
The golden egg hunt is just part of Blenheim’s extensive Easter programme, which runs throughout the holiday period and includes:
- Circus workshops and performances
- Traditional egg trail through the formal gardens
- Fairground rides
- Archery sessions
- Animal encounters
- Meet-and-greets with the Easter Bunny
- Magic shows and bubble performances
Most activities are included in the standard admission price, though some attractions like the fairground rides and archery incur additional charges.
Adventure Play Adds Year-Round Appeal
For travel planners considering multi-generational itineraries, Blenheim’s recently opened Adventure Play area provides a significant added attraction. The £3.6 million facility, located within the historic Walled Garden, is described as the biggest family-themed attraction in the Palace’s history.
Covering an area larger than a football pitch, the play zone features interconnecting areas with secret chambers, tunnel slides, rope bridges, and design elements inspired by the Palace’s architectural features. It has been specifically designed to accommodate children of all abilities aged 2-12 years.
Heather Carter, Managing Director of Visitor Attraction at Blenheim Palace, emphasizes the active nature of the Easter offerings: “We’re always looking for new ways to delight our visitors, and Golden Giveaways is a fantastic opportunity to create lasting memories for families exploring Blenheim Palace. It not only adds a fun challenge for children but also keeps them active and outdoors during the Easter holidays.”
