Hotel Indigo Bath has received the Green Key accreditation, an internationally recognized eco-label that certifies tourism facilities meeting rigorous environmental standards.
The certification places the Georgian city hotel among more than 6,000 establishments across 70 countries that have earned the distinction since the Green Key programme launched in 1994. In England, the scheme is administered by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, with frequent on-site audits ensuring properties maintain high sustainability standards.
The achievement follows the establishment of a dedicated “Green Team” at the hotel in 2024, tasked with identifying and implementing eco-friendly practices throughout operations.
“We’re delighted to have been accredited with the Green Key, which aligns perfectly with our values at Hotel Indigo Bath,” said Gemma Orford, Operations Manager. “We believe in not just providing exceptional service to our guests, but also in doing so in a way that minimises our impact on the environment.”
Orford noted the certification represents “the first step in not only reducing our carbon footprint but also encouraging our guests to make more sustainable choices during their stay.”
Hotel Indigo Bath is operated by Castlebridge Hospitality Group under license from IHG Hotels Ltd. The privately-owned hotel group also manages properties in Chester, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Winchester.
For travelers planning a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage city, the Green Key accreditation offers assurance that their accommodation is committed to responsible tourism practices.
