The British Motor Museum is opening its doors for a special late evening event on Tuesday, November 18, giving visitors an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at one of Britain’s most impressive automotive collections.
Starting at 5pm, guests will have over three hours to explore the massive 4,500 square meter Collections Centre, which houses more than 200 historic vehicles from both the British Motor Museum and Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust collections. The building contains some of the oldest British cars, rare sports cars, and one-off prototypes that can’t be found anywhere else in the world.
Unlike regular museum visits, this special evening will feature a selection of stunning vehicles with their bonnets, boots, and doors opened, allowing visitors to see details typically hidden from view. The museum’s Workshop—normally closed to the public—will also be accessible, with guided tours led by museum staff.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Cat Boxall, Curator at the British Motor Museum, and the Vehicle Collection Manager of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. Both will be hosting “What’s in the Workshop” talks, discussing the cars currently undergoing repair or restoration. Museum staff and volunteers will be on hand throughout the evening to share their expertise on the collection.
The ticket price includes dinner served in the Museum Gallery, featuring a choice of chicken casserole or vegetable and mixed bean chilli, followed by apple, pear and cinnamon crumble with vanilla cream.
“We’re delighted to be hosting our first Late evening this Autumn to give visitors a rare opportunity to see the Collections Centre and a ‘behind the scenes’ insight into how we store and preserve our stunning collection of vehicles,” said Boxall.
Tickets are priced at £25 for general admission, £21 for members, and £17 for premium members. Since this event takes place outside normal museum hours, annual passes are not valid. Limited spaces are available, and early booking is advised.
