Car enthusiasts and history buffs have two exciting opportunities to experience the British Motor Museum like never before, with the return of its Museum Late events. The Museum has announced two special after-hours experiences: From Sketch to Street on 11 February and Backstage Tours on 11 March, offering visitors exclusive access to rare exhibits, expert talks, and behind-the-scenes collections.

Exploring the Art of Car Design – 11 February

The From Sketch to Street event will delve into the world of car design, giving attendees a unique insight into how some of Britain’s most iconic vehicles evolved from concept sketches to production models. Inspired by the Museum’s ‘From Sketch to Street’ exhibition, this evening will feature an exclusive after-hours tour and a brand-new talk: Ciao Inghilterra! How British Cars Got Italian Style. Guests will explore how British automakers incorporated Italian design influences, while also engaging in discussions about their own design ideas with fellow enthusiasts.

Go Behind the Scenes – 11 March

For those eager to uncover the hidden treasures of the British Motor Museum, the Backstage Tours event on 11 March offers an extraordinary chance to explore areas usually closed to the public. Guided tours will take visitors through the Museum’s vast collection of historical documents, images, and films, with the Archive Team providing an in-depth look at how Heritage Certificates are made. The Curatorial Team will also be on hand to showcase the extensive artefact stores, where rare automotive memorabilia and vintage motoring toys are preserved.

A Rare Opportunity for Motor Enthusiasts

Stephen Laing, Head of Collections & Engagement at the British Motor Museum, expressed his excitement about the upcoming events:

“We’re delighted to be hosting these two Museum Lates. On 11 February, visitors will gain a unique insight into the process of car design, and on 11 March, they will have the rare opportunity to explore the treasures within our Archive and artefact stores. Both events offer exclusive experiences that automotive enthusiasts won’t want to miss!”
