The British Motor Museum is set to transform into a hub of technological innovation this February half-term, offering young visitors the chance to code their own car games and build art-creating robots among other activities.
In a first-time collaboration with FUZE, children aged six and above can use Nintendo Switch® consoles to create their own car-themed games from February 17-21. The innovative sessions will allow young coders to design race tracks and customize vehicles – even transforming them into dinosaurs or pieces of cake.
“Design and technology have always driven the incredible cars that make up Britain’s motoring history,” explains Emma Rawlinson, Lifelong Learning Officer. “We have so much on offer this Half-Term for children to learn about car design and technology in a fun and engaging way.”
The museum is also participating in the national Tourmaline and the Museum of Marvels Trail, organized by Kids in Museums and Little Tiger. Young visitors can hunt for hidden magical objects throughout the museum, with the chance to win a signed book bundle and National Art Pass.
Popular science duo Professor Pickle and Dr. Pumpkin return with their ‘Double Trouble’ show from February 17-21, while weekend visitors can join special ‘Techie’ Family Tours led by resident designers. Creative youngsters can also build their own ‘ArtBot’ – a motorized device that creates unique artwork as it moves.
The activities run from February 15-23, with family tickets available from £43 in advance. All activities are included in the museum entry price, which can be converted into an annual pass at no extra cost. Under-5s visit free.
The program represents the museum’s latest effort to make Britain’s motoring heritage accessible and engaging for young audiences, combining hands-on technology with historical appreciation.
