An intriguing new musical featuring some of the West End’s biggest names is set to premiere at the London Palladium this February. “Figaro,” combining the talents of viral music sensation Ashley Jana with Broadway’s creative elite, promises to shake up London’s theatre scene.
The production has assembled an all-star cast led by Jon Robyns, fresh from his acclaimed run as The Phantom in “The Phantom of the Opera.” He’s joined by “Six: The Musical” breakout star Aimie Atkinson and television favorite Daniel Brocklebank from “Coronation Street,” creating an intriguing mix of theatrical and television talent.
The show marks an interesting departure from traditional musical adaptations, offering an original story about a farm girl named Sienna whose pursuit of singing fame leads her into a world of travelling performers and mysterious characters. American songwriter Jana, whose online music has amassed over 60 million streams, provides the score.
Behind the scenes, the production boasts serious Broadway credentials. Tony Award-winning producer Michael Lamon (recently celebrated for “Merrily We Roll Along”) teams up with Grammy winner Van Dean, known for bringing “Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club” to London. Director Will Nunziata arrives fresh from off-Broadway success with “White Rose: The Musical.”
While currently scheduled for just two concert performances on February 3rd and 4th, industry insiders suggest this could be a testing ground for a larger production. The involvement of such high-profile producers and creators hints at ambitious future plans for the show.
Tickets for this potential next big thing in musical theatre are available through the London Palladium website, with prices starting from £25.
