Churchill’s romantic proposal spot is setting the scene for love this February as Blenheim Palace unveils an extravagant Valentine’s dining program in its newly restored Orangery.
The historic UNESCO World Heritage Site is offering couples a chance to dine like aristocracy with a specially curated afternoon tea priced at £60 per person. The menu features luxury items including duck bon bons, crab tartlets with brown crab mayonnaise, and a selection of artisanal pastries topped with a signature salted caramel chocolate heart.
For those seeking a more relaxed celebration, the Palace’s Walled Garden Pizzeria is introducing heart-shaped wood-fired pizzas on February 14th. The special Valentine’s package includes two pizzas, a side dish and pink fizz for £20, offering an affordable romantic option amid the cost-of-living crisis.
The Valentine’s program launches as Blenheim celebrates 75 years since first opening its doors to the public. The Palace is currently undertaking a £10.4 million roof restoration project, with all visitor revenue contributing to the preservation of this historic landmark.
“Couples can follow in the footsteps of Winston Churchill, who proposed to Clementine Hozier at our Temple of Diana,” explains a Palace representative. “With our State Rooms showcasing 300 years of history and our formal gardens providing the perfect romantic backdrop, we’re offering visitors more than just a meal – we’re offering an experience.”
The dining experiences run from February 14-16, with standard lunch options available from £19 for two courses. Advance booking is essential for the Orangery, though the pizzeria will accept walk-ins subject to availability.
The Palace shop is also offering Valentine’s gifts including their signature gin (£38.95) and luxury chocolates (£13.95), available both in-store and online.
